Zuchon History and Origin: The country of origin of the Zuchon breed was in United States during the mid to late 1900's and is referred to as one of the of the 'teddy bear' dogs due to its lovable, cuddly appearance. The lineage of the hybrid Zuchon is a combination of the Bichon Frise, the "Curly Lap Dog", that originated in France during the 1300's and the Shih Tzu, the "Lion Dog" that began as a guardian and lapdog in the ancient Imperial Court of Peking in China.

The Zuchon was developed to combine the stunning white coat color and pleasant, outgoing nature and intelligence of the Bichon Frise with the profuse coat and regal carriage of the Shih Tzu. The Zuchon is not only enjoyed as a cute pet it is also used as a therapy dog for disabled or ill children. The hybrid Zuchon is currently recognized by the Designer Dogs Kennel Club (DDKC) and the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC).

Zuchon Height: The Zuchon breed is classified as a small sized dog. The height to the shoulder of a male dog is 9 - 14 inches (23 - 36 cm). The height to the shoulder of a female dog is slightly less.
