Thai Ridgeback History and Origin: The country of origin of the Thai Ridgeback breed was in Thailand during the Ancient Times and was mainly used as a guard dog and for hunting in the eastern parts of Thailand. Descriptions of the Thai Ridgeback breed appeared in Thai documents written more than 350 years ago. Jack Sterling founded the American Thai Ridgeback Association in 1995 to promote the breed.
